What happened to the fabric - Polka Dot Sundress

It has been months since last time I have blogged and (again!) many things have happened in my life and I believe and hope for the best. Anyway, I've gained much appreciation for people who blog regularly and frequently about their creations and ideas, How do they do it?

Anyway, I love this new creation of mine, Actually it has been a while that it was done, but the weather was too cold for it and it was not photographed. Finally I found the time to photograph it and voila! here it is.

It is made of this beautiful navy polka dot fabric in 100% cotton.

I used a pattern from the book "I am cute dresses" and I made a few changes, specifically I narrowed down the waistband a little bit, because I didn't like it that wide, I also let the front triangles (cups) overlap, so that one can wear it bra-less  especially in warm weather, it should feel good and free.

Till next time then, I hope it doesn't take me another 4 months.

What happened to the fabric - Pencil Skirt

Again from last post, many things have happened. Maybe the reason is I post once a year. Anyway, I quit my last position to move in with my husband. Now I live in Orlando, Florida and I will be an adjunct soon starting next semester. We have also visited Tokyo for a few days which was fantastic and I hope I can go back again for a longer visit.

During my absent months, I have done a couple of sewing projects. From the time that animal print became a trend again, I wanted to sew a zebra skirt. But I found out that I also love Cheetah and Leopard prints. When I saw this fabric, although it wasn't a real animal print, I though I give it a shot.  It is a 100% cotton fabric and that's why I liked it. This is how it turned out.

After thanksgiving my hubby bought me a beautiful "brother" and magic happened.

For my first project, I found a project in one of the books I bought when we were in Korea. I used cotton and linen and I think it looks cute.

What happened to the fabric - Pencil pouch

It's a long time that I want to blog about crafting. Although I named it "what happened to the fabric", I don't intend to write just about sewing, but that's what I like to do the most. I still don't have a sewing machine, but I plan to buy one and start to sew ( a lot! ).

In my first post, I like to write about the pencil pouch I made by hand. That made me appreciate sewing machine even more! When I was in middle school, my mom sew me a pencil pouch made of denim and instead of simple embroidery I did, she patched a plaid pink and white fabric. After a while I decided to use its fabric to make a pair of patch work shorts out of different kinds of jeans. So I ripped it off. Of course I never made the shorts and regretted it after a while.

I tried to make some thing like my old pencil pouch with the remaining of my jeans after I shortened them. When I showed it to my mom, she said she doesn't remember that she had made something like that before.
